Rain is a good thing

well..... sometimes.

It's actually starting to become a problem here..... Like bad. Where Im at, we're fine; we live somewhat on higher ground, but all over Uruguay there is a Hazardous storm watch until Wednesday. IT HAS RAINED SOOOO MUCH!!!! To the point that yesterday the Stake president called the Branch and told us to cancel church. That means we're going to have to push back Luis' baptism date a week. PLEASE KEEP PRAYING FOR HIM!

So yeah, I just want to let everyone that has been in tuned with Uruguay's Weather that where I'm at is pretty chill. We did pass by some crazy flooded fields on the way to Chuy today. It was crazy

We've done a TON of proselyting in the rain this week. What does this mean? Hopefully a gorgeous wife;D

So Luis is doing well. That was honestly the easiest I have ever taught the word of wisdom to anyone.

On top of that, we're starting to get really close to this this one family of investigators. It all started out when I was with Elder Burgess. We started teaching this 20 year old named Jessica. She didn't believe at all in God but found interest in listening to us. We taught her for a bit, but it was pretty slow going. After a bit, we saw her younger sister inside, and called her out to listen. Erica Is this super bubbly 14 year old that Is really mature for her age and is also really interested in the topic of God. While I was with Elder Burgess, we just taught them two. A bit of time passed where they weren't really fulfilling commitments, and so we didn't pass a whole ton, until last Wednesday. Elder Bean and I had a really spiritual charla with Jesica where we showed her the video "The Hope of God's Light" Super good one;D and taught her about Spiritual progress and how it can change things in her family. Since then, We Had a Charla Friday with them. In the which we met their 23 year old brother Jorge, and had a cool charla with the 3 of them together. All through out the charla, Erica and Jessica would throw in doctrine they remembered about the Restoration, helping to teach their brother. The Best part was that we would ask questions and he would respond with thoughtful answers that proved understanding. Upon verifying if Jessica had read, she responded that in the last 2 days, she had 9 chapters! The coolest thing is that you can see a change in her, and in the environment of the house. As we were sitting there, I felt the spirit so strongly, filling the house. Jessica was grinning ear to ear you could see that the other two were at complete peace. I had a kind of cool testimony building moment where I realized that the fire and strength I could feel and that I know they felt in that moment, they had never felt so strongly in their lives. I could sense what the common absence of the spirit in a normal life would feel like, and feel the drast difference that was then present. That was a really cool experience. We've begun passing by almost every day. With that, a Miracle happened Sunday. We were sitting there teaching Erica when the generally accepting mom entered the room (she's nice, but made it clear she doesn't want anything). Well we finished the lesson and began talking with her. She is super cool! We didn't end up teaching her in that moment, but established a good relationship there. I really think that she now will let us start teaching her. If she does, we will be teaching the entire family! That will be so cool! I think the next time we go we're going to commit them to read the scriptures as a family;D Im excited for that.

Well I love yall soo much! Have a great week,
Elder Eliason

PROGRESSING!!!!!!!!!

April 11, 2016

LUIS CAME TO CHURCH AND HAS A BAPTISIMAL DATE FOR THE 30th OF APRIL!!!!!!

The little Branch of Lascano has not baptised in over a year and has been really low on animo in this sense. Well, after a dope charla with Luis Saturday, he accepted a baptism date and showed up at church 10 minutes early!:D The priesthood class was really cool. Hermano Machado ended up teaching about different ordinances of the Priesthood and Luis was intrigued! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Well That was definitely the highlight of the week..... no not only that, but everyone in the district has someone progressing! Not only that, but they all have baptism dates for the 30th of April. In a district that has had a total of 4 baptisms in the last year IT'S GREAT!!!!!!:D

Haha another thing about Luis. After Church ended , we were standing around talking with him and hermano machado. Hermano Machado, learning that Luis is 22 began talking about how he should go on a mission. I thought it was awesome.

Well this week has been full of a bunch of cool charlas. For example: we walked past this house on our way to an investigator. We had passed it, but Elder Bean felt we should go back. We ended up sitting down with this lady and her husband. The woman was well versed in biblical stories and doctrine, having been in the past a preacher for the Barraca. I actually hold a lot of respent for this evangelical program. What they do is go out, preach to wayward teens who have a ton of addictions and want to turn their lives around, take them off the streets, pretty much lock them inside a church, give them a strict bed time, healthy diet, let them watch only good movies, and all the time teaching them of the redemptive power of Christ. To raise money for the program, the youth that have turned their lives around, hit the streets selling alfajors (uruguayan cookie type things), and other food. You can always tell who they are for the colorful baskets they cary around full of food. Well, lets just say she has a really cool base and is willing to build from that. In the middle of the charla, she staight up told us that we are very spiritual people, and at the end, told us that she had really enjoyed the charla and would love for us to come back. We'll see what happens. Please pray for them(Alicia and Gutavo)

Other than that this week has been full of Great things, and crazy opposition. Tell yall more about it when I get back. (don't worry, it's nothing physically dangerous)

WellI love yall a ton and hope yall have a superb week,
Elder Eliason

GENERAL CONFERENCE!!! (yah origional name;D)

This week has flown. Im not going to lie. I miss Elder Burgess. I love that guy so much, and am excited to see him again after the mission. Elder Bean is really great though too. And get this..... HIS DAD WORKS AT IM FLASH TOO!!!!!!! Dad do you know a John Bean? He works in the Intel Management part of the plant I believe, but If you've met him, that would be so cool!!!!:D

Can I also just say.... I LOVE GENERAL CONFERENCE!!!!!

Honestly, that talk about acting and going to the rescue without waiting for meetings to do anything really spoke loudly to me. I have seen that so much in the mission. Even when there are meetings, most things don't happen until someone take the initiative and acts! Go find people to teach. Go inspire others. People like to follow an example more than head it all off. Really interesting concept. Take Initiative!

Can I also just say that there were a TON of talks about the Temple. It pretty important. Yall should go soon:D
Well, we have visited a ton of people and had a bunch of cool charlas. The big problem is still getting people to come to church. I find that one of satan's biggest tools is Idleness. It is completely unnecessary, doesn't help anyone or even bring any happiness. I haven't heard anyone say with an honest smile on their face that they lay around the house all day. Then why do many do it? True happiness comes when we step outside of our comfort zones in the direction of God. I can promise you that at where we are now, the kingdom of God would not be within most of our comfort zones. That is our goal, what we strive daily to work towards, becoming comfortable in the presence of God

DandC 121:45 Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.

People just need to act.

We found this really cool lady this week named Carola and put a baptisimal date with her for the 30 of April. Please pray for her to receive desires to act. To be baptised, she must come to church for the 3 hours the next 3 sundays. She can totally do it, but she just needs to act!

We also found a cool new that is friends with a super active member. Her name is Jesica and we have a charla with her this Tuesday in the which the member will be coming with us. Im  stoked for that.

The gospel is so perfect, just follow it and you will see. All questions can and will be answered if you are faithful and ACT!

  • Doctrine and Covenants 50:24

24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
Its a cool promise. Well I've got to go now, but I love yall so much. If you can just remember these people In your prayers it would be much appreciated. Jesica and Erica, other Jesica, Luis, Hanible, Beatrix, family Machado (investigators), Edgar Portugal, Loreley, Mabel Jara, and all the active members of the Branch in Lascano to have incredibly spiritual missionary experiences.

Have a great day!!!!!!
Elder Eliason

Oh, by the way, Did I tell yall that Brother Machado has a cloudy eye and looks like nick furry. Between elder been and me, we refer to him as such. haha we actually told him that the other day and he died laughing

so just a funny thought from your other email. How's life?
I taught one of my latino comps that that's what one says when they feel awkward and don't know what else to say. Hahaha I totally forgot I used to say it all the time

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!:D
